Nail Surgery

Indications: - Ingrown, Involuted, Misshapen, Discoloured, Fungal, Thickened

Some nails just don’t play nice.

If you’ve had it with a stubborn ingrown toenail that keeps coming back, or a damaged nail that refuses to heal, nail surgery might be your fast track to longer-lasting relief.

It’s a minor, highly effective procedure carried out under local anaesthetic by our experienced podiatrists — so you’ll be comfortable, calm, and back on your feet in no time.

By carefully removing the offending section of nail — or the whole nail if needed — and preventing it from growing back, we help protect your comfort and confidence for the long haul.

The best part? You won’t be doing it alone. We’ll guide you every step of the way — from consultation and preparation to the full aftercare plan. Most people say they wish they’d done it sooner. So, if your toenail is more trouble than it’s worth, come and chat with us. We’re here to help you walk away from the problem — literally.

What to Expect After Nail Surgery

Healing Time

  • Most people return to normal activity within 24–48 hours, though we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 1–2 weeks.

  • Full healing of the nail bed typically takes around 4–6 weeks.

  • You’ll be wearing a protective dressing for a few days, which we’ll apply for you after the procedure.

Redressing at Home
We’ll give you everything you need to redress the toe at home, including sterile dressings and step-by-step guidance. Here's the usual routine:

  1. Wash your hands, and gently remove the old dressing.

  2. Clean the area with saline or warm salt water (we’ll advise you).

  3. Dry carefully with sterile gauze — no cotton wool or tissue.

  4. Apply a sterile dressing and enjoy your day.

  5. Repeat this process daily until the wound is dry and healed.

We'll show you how to do this before you leave — and we’re only ever a call away if you need help.

A Few Things to Know

  • You can walk the very same day but it's best to rest for 24 to 48 hours after.

  • We'll arrange a follow-up check to make sure everything's healing as it should.

  • If both sides of the nail are removed (called a PNA or TNA), we use a chemical to stop regrowth — meaning fewer problems down the line.

  • This procedure is a permanent solution to years of discomfort.
